We regret to advise that the catalogue & database is currently not available and due to CoVID level 4 restrictions, we may not be able to fix as it requires a permit to visit the GSV where the server is hosted. Collections : 

Library Catalogue - limited free version available to non-members. 

The Genealogical Index of Names (GIN)  & Cemeteries Database  - mostly relating to Victoria and a free trial name search is available for non-members.

The Scottish Gazetteer is a listing of Scottish place names (villages, towns & parishes) to help find the county, official parish number or census film reel numbers. The Society holds the complete 1841 & 1851 census and also Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow for 1861 on microfilm in our library. To access, logon to the GSV members area above.

Guided Research (members only) is useful when starting your research as it presents the major records on particular places and topics with some background information and tips. This is the best place for newcomers to genealogy or a region.

The GSV is a FamilySearch (LDS) affiliate library with access to nearly all of their restricted image collections. So when searching for records in the FamilySearch cataogue and you see the message "To view these images you must do the following: Access the site at a FamilySearch affiliate Library" come visit the GSV Research Library.

VicFamilies is an on-line database of names/people who had a presence in Victoria being research by GSV members. The database is accessible to all via our collections webpage. So how do GSV members submit their data?
